The Big Island of Hawaii

Explore the island that has it all – active volcanoes, huge waterfalls, beaches of every color, a snow-capped mountain, arid deserts, and tropical forests. Planet Earth has 13 climate zones, and Hawaii Island has 11 of them, making it an ideal destination to experience diversity. The youngest and largest of the inhabited islands, Hawaii is known for its healthy coral reefs, which feature endangered sea turtles, monk seals, and large manta rays. And when it comes to food, you’ll find an abundance of fresh, organic produce and tasty Pacific Rim cuisine. The Big Island also has very unique culture that mixes ancient, Polynesian roots with more modern influences from Asia and America.

Hawaii Island is one of the only places in the world that you can see an active volcano pouring hot lava into the ocean, creating new land. We will experience this up-close and personal, from the comfort of a boat!

Shangri La, Kapoho

The Shangri La Kapoho is a unique property that you won’t find anywhere else. You will stay in Balinese hales that are spread among a 1/2 –acre of naturally-heated snorkeling lagoons. Exotic orchids and tropical foliage line the footpaths connecting the sleeping hales with the common areas and yoga hale. Anytime you need to feel refreshed, just jump over the side and snorkel with the tropical fish. A Japanese Jacuzzi and sauna are on site, as well as a steam vent from the volcano. Shangri La is located within walking distance of the famous Champagne Ponds, also known for great snorkeling, and it is far away from any hotels.
